Microsoft also introduced numerous changes to the Server Message Block (SMB) protocol. These include firewall rule changes, support for blocking NTLM, dialect management, alternative network port connections, SMB over QUIC (an alternative to TCP and RDMA), and changes to SMB signing and encryption.
