Introduction

Microsoft Intune is a cloud-based endpoint management solution that allows organizations to manage devices, enforce policies, and configure settings remotely. One common requirement for enterprises is configuring multiple display modes on Windows devices to improve productivity and user experience. In this guide, we will walk through the steps to configure multiple display modes using Intune.

Prerequisites

Before proceeding, ensure you have the following:

  • A Microsoft Endpoint Manager (MEM) account with administrative privileges.
  • Windows 10/11 devices enrolled in Intune.
  • An understanding of display settings and policies in Windows.

Step-by-Step Guide to Configure Multiple Display Modes

Step 1: Sign in to Microsoft Intune Admin Center

  1. Navigate to Microsoft Intune Admin Center.
  2. Sign in with your administrator credentials.

Step 2: Create a Device Configuration Profile

  1. In the left-hand navigation menu, go to Devices > Manage Devices > Configuration.
  2. Click on + Create > + New Policy.
  3. Select Windows 10 and later as the platform.
  4. Choose Settings Catalog
  5. Click Create.

Step 3: Configure Display Settings

  1. Enter a suitable Name for the profile, such as “Multi-Display Configuration” and click Next.

  2. Under the Configuration settings, click on + Add settings.
  3. Go to Display and select Configure Multiple Display Mode
  4. Select the desired mode (Extend, Duplicate, Second Screen Only, PC Screen Only).

Step 4: Scope Tags

  1. Under the Scope Tags section, leave the scope to Default

Step 5: Assign the Policy to Devices or Users

  1. Under the Assignments section, choose whether to apply the policy to all users, specific groups, or devices.
  2. Click Next.

Step 6: Review and Deploy

  1. Review all the configuration settings.
  2. Click Create to deploy the policy.

Verifying the Configuration

  1. Once the policy is applied, restart or sync the device with Intune.
  2. Verify the display settings by navigating to Settings > System > Display.
  3. Ensure the multiple display mode is configured as per the policy settings.

Troubleshooting Common Issues

  • Policy Not Applying: Check device compliance and ensure it is enrolled properly.
  • Incorrect Display Mode: Verify the policy settings in Intune and confirm device support.
