Disable Auto Update and Metadata Network Access
Install the VLC Media Player and start the application.
Uncheck the box “Allow Metadata Network Access”.
Uncheck the box “Regularly Check for VLC Updates”.
Click Continue.
Navigate to the Tools tab and choose Preferences.
Under the Privacy / Network Interaction section, uncheck the boxes “Activate Updates Notifier” and “Allow Metadata Network Access”.
Click Save and close the VLC Media Player.
Navigate to the current user profile “C:\Users\%Username%\AppData\Roaming\vlc”
Copy the vlcrc file to C:Install with the MSI.
Uninstall VLC Media Player and delete the “C:\Users\%Username%\AppData\Roaming\vlc” directory.
After installing the MSI, copy the vlcrc file to the “C:\Users\Default\AppData\Roaming\vlc“ directory.
Install the VLC Media Player and start the application.
Uncheck the box “Allow Metadata Network Access”.
Uncheck the box “Regularly Check for VLC Updates”.
Click Continue.
