Repackaging Tips
- Start setup.exe
- On the Welcome screen, click Next
- On the License Agreement screen, click Yes
- On the Enter Information screen, fill in the fields and click Next
- On the Database Configuration screen, select Winstation only (no database) and click Next
- On the Select database screen, select SQL Server, full in the server and click Next
- On the WinStation-OIS screen, select Review and click Next
- On the Review Station Features screen, deselect all and select the appropriate Project configuration. Click Next
- On the screen Copy Files, click Next
- WinZip will now be installed
- On the Aladdin Device Driver Installation Utility for Win32 screen, click OK
- On the Winstation System Configuration screen, fill in the correct information and click Update
- On the Winstation Configuration Setup screen, click OK
- On the Winstation System Configuration screen, click Close
- On the Question screen, click Yes
- On the Winstation Installation screen, click Finish
- Create a System DSN with the Name WinstnSQL and the driver SQL Server.
- Create a System DSN with the Name DR and the driver Microsoft Access Driver. Select the local database dr.mdb
- Delete local map C:\NETUSE
- Copy the content of C:\Temp\Config to C:
- Reboot the workstation

Finally, you will understand how to perform simple to sophisticated changes to your installation’s user interface.
This course teaches you how to create Basic MSI projects, which use the Windows Installer service (MSI) for the installation’s behavior and appearance. This course does not cover InstallScript MSI projects.

- Install files and create shortcuts

The course is designed for people with a general background in IT and/or Packaging. We take students with or without prior experience in App-V.
There are no hard pre-requisites to be able to take the class, however, the following are helpful:
- Knowledge and experience with general Microsoft Server Administration.
- Knowledge and experience with SQL Server Administration.
- Experience with other “packaging” techniques helpful.
- Experience with App-V Administration and Sequencing.
- Each student will require two Windows VMs.
- Our pre-class prep kit will provide detailed written instructions, a video introduction to building the VMs, and installers for the tools needed.
- Any type of hypervisor may be used, but the student must have access to create and revert to “snapshots”.
- You will need additional storage on a share for the application installers and created packages.
- It is highly recommended that students have two monitors, microphone, video camera, and earphones.
